A Heart Health Program at Rathbun . . .

On Tuesday February 27th at 6:30 pm, the East Haddam Library System will present special guest speakers.

Dr Jeffrey Ranaudo MD, American Board Certified Vascular Surgeon, will discuss heart health from a medical perspective including ways to keep your heart healthy and the dangers of having an unhealthy heart. Also, Trainers of Annino Strength and Conditioning will be discussing the benefits of exercise and the importance of staying active to keep your heart healthy.

Heart healthy snacks will be provided. We hope to see you at the Rathbun Free Memorial Library Tuesday, February 27th at 6:30 pm!

Library Love!

During the month of February, EHFPL and RFML will sell red paper hearts that read “______ Loves the Libraries!” at the main circulation desks. A donation jar will be placed next to the hearts, you may fill out as many as you like in exchange for a donation (no set price). The hearts will be hung in the hallways for the month of February.  The proceeds will go towards the library system – in particular, the Children’s Shelving Project at EHFPL and the Historical Room Digitization Project at the Rathbun.

A special thanks to Joanne Roczniak who is working with businesses in town to display and sell the hearts.

Food for Fines

The annual East Haddam Food Bank food drive starts today and ends December 30th. If you owe a fine to your library, for every non-perishable food item you donate, $1.00 will be deducted from your library fine.

Donation boxes are located at both libraries.

If you don’t owe money, please feel free to donate a food item anyway. Help bring holiday cheer to a needy family this season.

Thanks!

Reminder: Peanut Free Zone

Howdy Folks, just a friendly reminder that peanut allergies are becoming more and more common. A peanut butter sandwich for you might mean a trip to the hospital for someone near you. So please be mindful of others with nut allergies and leave these types of snacks at home.

Our Children’s Areas are Peanut-Free Zones.

Please wash your hands before entering if you have been in contact with peanut products!

Thank you.
